Background:
The Georgian Bay Tourism Group (GBT) has been working diligently
for the past 17 years as the leading Tourism Marketing Organization
increasing visitors, education groups, tour groups, conferences and
international tourists to Historic Huronia and the Southern Georgian
Bay area.
This unique marketing partnership has several goals according to
media spokesman Ron Taylor “First and foremost, the GBT mission
is to attract tourism to Southern Georgian Bay for the primary benefit
of the members while recognizing that these benefits spill over to
local businesses and to the local communities at large.”
The GBT group has developed a new logo and image, a new and dynamic
website, and will be making additional expenditures through major
internet and international media networks to increase visibility for
today’s web users as part of their 3 year marketing initiative.
Each partner contributes a set amount of money each year. The funds
are in turn used for promotion, advertising (web and print), trade
show attendance, and participation in the Southern Georgian Bay Visitor
Guide.
The Georgian Bay Tourism Group presents tourism experiences covering
the natural Geographic areas of the 30,000 Islands within the Southern
part of Georgian Bay in the municipalities of Midland, Penetanguishene,
Tay and Tiny township and the town of Honey Harbour.
Several new market segments have been targeted in the three year
marketing plan including German and French visitors. An expanded focus
on the traditional boating and the Greater Toronto Area drive markets
will maintain visitor levels.
“We see this as the first step in bringing a clear exciting
and dynamic image for the Southern Georgian Bay Tourism members as
well as capturing more of the web travel user attention”, adds
Taylor.
