Muskoka, Ontario

Where is Muskoka? This is a question that is often asked and is difficult to answer for most tourists. Everyone usually knows that Muskoka is north of Toronto. See the Muskoka Map. To the south Muskoka Borders Simcoe county and changes along the Severn River, the south side is mostly Simoce County, and the North side is Muskoka. To the East, the main border is Tay Township which is also part of Simcoe County. Muskoka also touches on Georgian Bay and the 30,000 Island to the east. To the North Muskoka Borders on the Parry Sound District, and often Muskoka-Parrry Sound are used as one destination. To the West, Muskoka borders on Haliburton County and Algonquin Park. Muskoka has the reputation as being one of the larger areas in the province known as cottage country. Many consider Muskoka to be located in northern Ontario. However, by provincial standards, Muskoka is located in Southern Ontario. In most hearts it will also be in the north. Muskoka is famous for cottage rentals, the 'Muskoka Chair", Lake Muskoka, and the Muskoka sands beaches.

Fall is a favorite time in Muskoka and there are several fall colour routes to see fall colors and foliage. The following road trips touch on the Muskoka area are are inclusive of the Muskoka Area.

Muskoka Ontario to Host Ironman Event 2008
World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) recently announced an addition to the global Ironman 70.3 Event Series, the Muskoka Ironman 70.3 set for the fall of 2008 -a perfect time to enjoy the beautiful fall colours (colors) The 1.2 mile/1.9km swim course will consist of one-loop in the majestic waters of Peninsula Lake. The event is followed by a 56 mile/90km scenic and challenging one-loop bike course that takes athletes through Lake of Bays, including the Hamlet of Dwight, Dorset and Baysville. The course will end with an out-and-back 13.1 mile/21.1km run that incorporates the Fairy Vista Trail in the Town of Huntsville. Where is Muskoka.
