| The joy of an Ontario summer
travel getaway north into cottage country is a favorite leisure time experience
for many Ontarians, especially when the temperature is hot and the sun
is shinning. The Ontario lakes provide the perfect cooling off period
with a quick swim, a water-ski, a sail, a windsurf ride, or just a simple
soak while sitting in an inner tube. Days can start an early morning canoe
paddle, and finish with a sunset kayak across a quiet bay. When residents
say they are "traveling up north", or going "up north for
the weekend", the expressions usually means they are going on a vacation
or a holiday in Ontario’s Cottage Country. The summer of 2005 will
see millions of Ontario residents heading north up the Highway 400, Highway
11 corridors into cottage country. This could range from a romantic
long weekend travel getaway at a bed and breakfast,
to a family resort getaway to learn to water
ski holiday at one of Ontario’s full service resort destinations
or for an Ontario fishing vacation getaway
package at one of the many cabin-cottage properties that specialize
in providing, boats, bait, meals---the whole fishing package. There are
many Ontario resorts and lodges, bed and breakfasts, cottages, day spas
and country inns in Southern Ontario and Northern
Ontario, to suit a variety of tastes and budgets. Going north takes
Ontario travelers into "Toronto's Getaway Country", where the
air is fresher; the sun rises earlier and sets later. Spring-summer sports
start in May and get better in June and July and peaks August and finishing
up in September around the
Labour Day Long Weekend. usually at the
end of the family school vacation holiday. Ontario Summer outdoors activities
and sports abound as soon as you see your first Lake heading north. Many
of the sports are often included in a getaway package with accommodation
and meals. There are many outdoor fun summer festivals
and events in resort destinations going north. |
