Canoeing & Kayaking
Getaway @ Camp Conewango
Camp
Conewango is located on the north shore of Lake Talon, which is
part of a historic waterway, the Nippissing Voyageur Passageway. This
waterway took early travellers from the Ottawa River, Mattawa River through
Talon Lake and Trout Lake into Lake Nipissing. The Mattawa and North Rivers
are easily accessible by canoe, kayak or even by small motor boat. From
Camp Conewango short or long trips are possible. Take a day trip to explore
the breathtaking scenery of the route taken by the voyageurs, or take
a short paddle along the shoreline.
The Dead River, just minutes from Camp Conewango, is a calm paradise
with mirror-like reflections on the water. For fishing or watching wildlife,
including birds, turtles, beavers, martens, muskrats and, if you are lucky,
even deer or moose, the Dead River offers a quiet place to enjoy the solitude
of nature. Visit the bays and many islands on Lake Talon or the south
end with the canyon like access to the chutes from where the Mattawa River
leads to the Ottawa River .
Fully equipped HK cottages or tent and trailer park accommodation with
hot showers and laundry facility.
Prices starting at $ 140.00 per night for the cottages (2 nights min.)
and $ 24.00 for the campground.
